Ladner 18U AA Red Sox capped off a near-perfect spring season by clinching the league championship with a 2-0 win over cross-town rival North Delta Rays Gold last weekend.
Heading into the bottom of the fourth inning and the game still scoreless, Ladner was able to generate some offence thanks to a line drive single to right field from Arjun Chahal, followed by Max Kidds-Brodie hitting into a fielder’s choice. That set the stage for Michael Norcott to drill a first pitch fastball over the left field fence at Cromie Park.
Norcott helped his own cause as he was superb on the mound, tossing a complete game one-hit shutout. He struck out 11 and walked just two.
Ladner finished the spring season with a 13-1-1 record.
Coached by Todd Allan, Steve Chong, Doug Shorman and Brian Yamasaki, the Red Sox roster also features: Tyler Allan, Quincy Chong, Cameron Ferguson, Ryley Ferguson, Liam Froude, Jake Jones, Nate Kirkbride, Ben Lakeland, Nathan Reme, Mason Roberts, Daniel Shorman and Declan Speiran.
