A's just miss semis at Bantam provincials

Tsawwassen Athletics concluded a solid all-star baseball season with a competitive showing at the recent Bantam "A" Provincial Championships.

Tsawwassen Athletics concluded a solid all-star baseball season with a competitive showing at the recent Bantam "A" Provincial Championships.

The Athletics opened the tournament with a loss to Cloverdale, then produced an exciting one-run seventh inning win against Chilliwack.

There was plenty of more drama in their next encounter against host Ridge Meadows which was tied at 9-9 when the game was called due to darkness. It resumed Saturday morning and Ridge Meadows squeaked out a one run win.

Tsawwassen closed out round-robin play with a win over Vernon to finish in a three-way tie in the standings. The locals were denied a semi-final spot by just a single run.

Regardless, it was an exciting three days filled with some fantastic baseball played by this team of 14-and-15-year-olds.

The boys and their parents sincerely thank their coaches - Stu Bosch, Harry Dykstra, Barry Mark and manager Brian Lawson - for a competitive, positive, fun and development focused season.

The Tsawwassen Athletics roster included: Adam Bosch, Joel Bourque, Mark Dykstra, Thomas Green, Tavin Jackson, Brock Lawson, Spencer Mallard, Evan Mark, Kevin Marlowe, Jonathan Murphy, Robert Scarr, Richard Topp, Alex Von Schulmann, and Tyson Wilfur.
