Delta Bantam B Islanders capped off an outstanding season with a silver medal finish at the provincial championships in the North Okanagan last weekend.

The Delta Bantam B Islanders capped off a terrific season in impressive style with a silver medal finish at last week’s B.C. Lacrosse provincial championships in the North Okanagan.

The impressive run concluded with a hard-fought 10-6 loss to regular season champion and undefeated Chilliwack in an all-Lower Mainland gold medal game.

The difference was Chilliwack’s quick start that resulted in an early 4-0 lead. Goalie Matthew Marshall was named Delta’s game MVP.

The Islanders advanced to the championship game thanks to a come-from-behind 9-7 semi-final win over Abbotsford.

Delta erupted for five unanswered goals in the final period for the thrilling result with goalie Riley Tan earning game MVP honours.

The tournament started with an 8-4 round-robin victory over Comox Valley with captain Logan Lawrence getting the nod for game MVP.

A 5-4 overtime win against Williams Lake followed. The deciding goal was scored three minutes into sudden death with Conover Van Iperen earning the game MVP.

The Islanders then concluded round-robin play Saturday morning with a 10-4 triumph over Cowichan Valley. Jayden Dhanda got the nod for Delta’s game MVP.

Other tournament recognition included assistant captain Samuel Jackman receiving the Fair Play Award. It is given to the player that exemplifies fair play, puts forward a great effort for the team and plays the game with integrity.

The Islanders roster also features: Levi Sadlo (A), Jack Taylor, Owen King, Niko Bocolas, Dayne Robinson, Hunter Gardner, Nishal Devia, Gurmukh Singh, Doug Miele (A), Riley Harker, Raine Jerome, Damon Tomyk, Willem Ter Keurs, James Ramage and Kinsley Mullis.

The team was coached by Mike Miele, Jacob Steele and Jacob Dudar, with bench assistants Wayne Marshall, and Harshil Devia.
