BC produced its most impressive medal haul in recent history, earning medals in every sport. BC captured 130 gold, 68 silver and 63 bronze medals - an increase of 32 percent on its output at the 2007 Games.

"This is an amazing performance by Team BC," said Irene Schell (Victoria)Team BC Chef de Mission. "This proves that BC's sport system, which is doing an incredible job helping athletes achieve personal best performances and to reach their podium potential. It also gives coaches the tools and resources they need to do their job. Team BC is a team effort and this is a tremendous team result."

Delta swimmers made a big splash in the pool, combining to win a whopping 16 medals, including 13 gold. Ryan Anderson led the medal haul with seven, including five gold, while Dalton Boon also reached the top of the podium five times. Danielle Kisser enjoyed an outstanding meet with three gold medals and two silver.

In field hockey, Tsawwassen's Sam McComb scored the gamewinning goal as heavily favoured B.C. trimmed Alberta 1-0 in the gold medal game. The team also featured Molly Driscoll.

"We were a little jittery," admitted McComb. "It was like BC was supposed to win. there was a lot of pressure."

In women's soccer, Alessia Azermadhi, Jasmine Mander and Sessen Stevens were members of B.C.'s gold medal team. Delta athletes were also prominent on the basketball court with Taylor Bramford helping B.C. slip past Manitoba in the women's final and Manvir Gahir being part of B.C.'s gold winning men's team.

In rowing, Maxwell Latimer captured two gold medals, while Delta Gymnastics member Alex Farquharson was a force with three medals, including one gold. In athletics, Gurinder Dosanjh won silver in discus.

Tsawwassen's Gord Collings also coached B.C.'s women softball team to the gold medal.
