Within a span of two weeks, the Delta U16A ringette team won prestigious tournaments in Calgary and Ottawa.

The Calgary tourney, the world's largest ringette event, featured 12 teams in the U16A division. Delta captured gold by winning four round robin and two playoff games by a combined score of 44-6.

Along the way the local girls beat Beaumont, Sherwood Park, Medicine Hat and three teams from Calgary.

On the first weekend in February, the Delta girls travelled to Ottawa where the opposition included the number one and two ranked teams from Quebec (Laval and Des Moulins) and Ontario's number two ranked squad (Gloucester).

Delta's speed and skill was too much for the Eastern opponents as again the girls swept all six games, beating Des Moulins 5-1 in the semifinal and Gloucester 3-0 in the final.

The team celebrated with an evening skate down the Rideau Canal.

Next up are the provincial and Western Canadian championships.

The roster includes: Mackenzie Armstrong, Ingrid Bakke, Arisa Cadeau, Cassie Dercaloustian, Dana Dunstan, Rachel Landrigan, Leanne Mar, Taylor McIntosh, Kylee McPhedrain, Morgan O'Flynn, Lisa Salt, Monica Salt and Kyra Savard.

Coaching staff: Harold Bakke, Lisa Cadeau and Doug Salt.
