The Coastal "A" and "B" Cup Championships have returned following a two-year hiatus with the finals slated for April 23-24 in Ridge Meadows.

Youth soccer’s Coastal Cup is back after a two-year pandemic pause with teams resuming playdowns this weekend, leading up to the finals taking place April 23-24 in Ridge Meadows.

The Coastal Cup has a long and rich history in B.C., with teams from across Metro Vancouver taking part in a single-knockout month-long competition.

Boys and girls teams from the U13-U18 age categories in the A and B Cup compete with successful teams going on to represent their age category and district at the B.C. Soccer’s Provincial Championships.

“We are very excited to have the Ridge Meadows Soccer Club host this year’s Coastal Cup Finals. RMSC has established themselves a leader in our sport and we know that they will do an amazing job in organizing this prestigious event,” said B.C. Coastal Soccer League chair Joe Basic.

It will be an action-packed weekend at Dugald Morrison Turf in Ladner with seven Coastal “A” and “B” Cup quarter-final games on the schedule.

The boys will be featured on Saturday with the U13 South Delta United Hawks taking on North Vancouver Riptide in Coastal "B" Cup action at 10 .am.

Another “B” Cup game will follow at 2 p.m. with U15 South Delta United taking on the Cliff Avenue Blaze from Burnaby.

At 4 p.m., a U13 Coastal “A” Cup match-up will see Delta Coastal Selects hosting the Port Moody AC Selects.

On Sunday, it’s the girls’ turn to hit the spotlight with four games on tap.

At 10 a.m., U13 South Delta welcomes Langley United in “B” Cup play. It will be followed by a U13 “A” Cup match at noon between the Delta Coastal Selects and the Fraser Valley Selects.

At 2 p.m. the “A” Cup action continues with a U14 match-up featuring Delta and Fraser Valley.

The day concludes with another Delta and Fraser Valley battle, this time at the U17 “A” level.
