The Ladner Pioneers are two wins away from a third straight President’s Cup senior B national lacrosse title.
The home-side concluded the round-robin portion of the tournament Thursday night with a 5-3 win over the Snake Island Muskies to finish in first place with a 5-1 record.
The Allegany Arrows from upstate New York and the Edmonton Miners both finished with a record of 4-1-1, but the Arrows get second place based on a better goal difference.
The fourth and final playoff spot goes to the Muskies who despite the loss to Ladner, finished with a 3-3 record and were one-point better than the Six Nations Rivermen who finished with a record of 2-3-1.
The semifinals will be played today (Friday) at the Ladner Leisure Centre with the Pioneers squaring off against the Muskies at 4:30 p.m. followed by the second semifinal game between the Arrows and Miners at 7:30 p.m.
The semifinal losers will play for bronze on Saturday at 3 p.m. with the semifinal winners playing for gold at 6 p.m.
The closing ceremonies will follow right after the gold medal final.
