Jace Minni will be wearing Canadian colours in 2020.

The Beach Grove Golf Club standout and Grade 12 South Delta Secondary student has been been named to Golf Canada’s national junior U19 team.

From February through early June, the nine-member (five boys and four girls) Junior Squad will practice out of Golf Canada’s National Training Centre at Bear Mountain Golf Resort in Victoria.

It’s the third year that the program has provided centralized training, accommodation and education for athletes during the second semester of their high school year. Team members will be immersed in a focused centre of excellence, surrounded by world-class technical coaching staff and experts in the areas of mental performance, physiotherapy, biomechanics and nutrition.

Minni’s 2019 campaign included winning the Zone 4 Men’s Amateur and the MJT Odlum Brown Classic. He also had several top 10 finishes including the Canadian Junior Boys Championships.

He also officially signed his National Letter of Intent with the Gonzaga Bulldogs and is headed to the Spokane, WA school next September, along with Portland native Andrew Reinhardt.

"We're very excited to have Jace and Andrew joining us next fall," said Bulldogs head coach Robert Gray. "Both are fantastic players, hard workers and outstanding individuals with great family support. They will be great additions to our growing program, and we anticipate them being in the mix for traveling right from the beginning.

“They bring all the aspects we look for in our team members and it will be fun to work with them while they continue to develop their games and themselves in the coming years.”

Minni is joined by three players from Quebec and another from Ontario on the national junior men’s team. The junior women include Surrey’s Angela Arora who also plays out of Beach Grove.
