This year, the Delta Sports Hall of Fame will honour seven new members and eight 2024 Sport Champions.
They will join more than 250 individuals, teams, and organizations recognized by the Hall since 2005.
“These honorees have risen to the top through countless hours of perseverance and commitment to their sports and teams,” said Rick Lewall, Chair of the Delta Sports Hall of Fame. “Our thanks go to the sponsors who support the attendance of the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and teams at our banquet each year.”
2024 Delta Sports Hall of Fame Inductees
Hall of Fame Inductees are residents of Delta who have attained a level of excellence as an athlete, team, coach, builder, pioneer, or sponsor, based on their lifetime achievements.
One of this year’s inductees is Tsawwassen’s Sarah McManus.
She started playing field hockey at age eight, and soon excelled on her club and school teams.
In 2010 she was selected for the national team and went on to represent Canada in 216 international matches – the second most of any member of the women’s team. She competed in four Pan American Games, three Commonwealth Games, one World Cup, and numerous other international tournaments.
She remains involved in her sport as a member of the board of the Tsawwassen Falcons Hockey Club. She is proud to continue the legacy of Tsawwassen field hockey athletes and is grateful to role models like Mark, Peter and Rob Short, Ali Johnstone and Mark Pearson.
