Tsawwassen Shotokan Karate Club welcomed two new black belts and two new brown belts in addition to several other coloured belts this year.
Adults
Marco Lovera passed to Sandan (3rddegree) and Rian Dodds passed to Shodan (1stdegree) black belt. Fannie Smith passed to 3rdkyu (brown belt) Kurt Young to 7thkyu (orange belt) and Greg Muirhead to 8thkyu (yellow belt).
Juniors
Parker Teal (11) passed to 3rdkyu (brown belt), Tabitha Bild (10) to 4thkyu (purple belt) and Brennan Dyck (11) to 7thkyu (orange belt).
Training sessions are held in the South Park Elementary gymnasium on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. during the school year. The club always welcomes new students. Additional information can be found online at www.jkatsa.com
The Tsawwassen Shotokan Karate Club was established in 1981 and was located in the old Tsawwassen Junior Secondary gym for 23 years.
Instructors are Black Belt certified by the Japan Karate Association and the club is affiliated with the Japan Karate Association of B.C.
All instructors donate their time. As a result fees are very reasonable. The club has a long history of teaching traditional Japanese karate in a friendly atmosphere for fitness, self-defense and fun.
