Tunnel Town Curling Club hosted a Latino curling event on Sunday, Match 26.

Thirty members of the local Latino community came out and quickly learned how to throw a rock, sweep and have fun on the ice. This very successful event was part of Tunnel Town Curling’s focus on attracting non-traditional communities to try curling as an enjoyable social activity.

Jon Pelen with the Latino Workers Support Society helped organize the event and get the men to the rink. The curling season ends on April 1, but Tunnel Town will look to have more of these types of events when curling resumes in September.

The Latino Workers Support Society of South Delta is a newly registered charitable organization that works to provide social activities, including the summer soccer tournament, to these farmworkers who are far away from their homes and families working in South Delta.
