Pioneers open playoffs Tuesday against Chilliwack

After beginning the season with two straight losses, the Pioneers have been perfect since and will be overwhelming favourites in their opening round series with the eighth place Chilliwack Mustangs. The best-of-three match-up gets underway on Tuesday (8 p.m.) in Ladner and continues Wednesday in Chilliwack. If needed, game three will take place in Ladner on Friday.

The Mustangs finished with a 2-11-0-1 record and were dominated by the Pioneers in two regular season meetings losing by scores of 11-5 and 19-4.

Ladner concluded league play last Thursday by blasting the visiting North Shore Indians 24-3. Brett Taylor led the way with five goals and four assists. Quinn Waddington (4-5) and Nathan Clare (3-6) also enjoyed nine-point nights.

The Pioneers wrapped up first place with a 6-4 road win over the Nanaimo Timbermen on July 9.

Veteran Greg Rennie paced the attack with a goal and four assists. Waddington chipped in with a pair of goals and one helper. Kevin Hill was solid in net.
