'Sox endure tough season

Pee Wee All Star team showed consistent commitment

The Ladner Pee Wee AA All Star team gave it their all in a tough 2011 baseball season.

The boys competed over the Canada Day long weekend in the Cloverdale tournament to kick off their season and then headed into regular season play where they battled 10 teams for a provincial spot.

The Red Sox saw their best defensive games against Chilliwack and Vancouver, while their best at bats were seen in the Valley of the Champions tournament in Kelowna against the West Kootenays and the host team.

The boys persevered against hard hitting and strong pitching all season, being routinely challenged by the sheer size and power of their opponents, thus falling short of a provincial spot.

Consistent commitment and "shaking it off " valour was routinely displayed by the boys. Sportsmanship and player-to-player support was strong throughout the season.

The season featured some solid hitting by Tyler Schmidt, Jordan Nevens, Jordan Bogress, Trevor Raderecht and Brayden Lyons, key catches by Justin Chan, Tyler Mclennan, Cam Thompson and Cam Gray, and strong defensive play by Jared Leversage, Parker Strukoff and Neil O'Connor. Head coach Rob Bogress was assisted by Morgan Thompson and Todd Strukoff.
