The Ladner Stingrays Summer Swim Club opened the new season with impressive showings at a pair of competitions, including its own Super 7 Meet on June 18-19.

After making their initial splash at the Richmond Kigoos Icebreaker Meet in Steveston, the Stingrays hosted over 600 swimmers from throughout Metro Vancouver. What made this event unique is each swimmer must participate in seven races.

The host club came through with a number of excellent performances, leading to top results and personal best times. Awards were given to the top three swimmers from each division.

Stingray winners included: First place -- Robby Arundel (Div. 5), Nicole Currie (O Cat 2), Matt Lock (O Cat 2). Second place -- Holly Denham (Div. 4), Brandon Freiberger (Div. 4), Kiana Beaton (O Cat 2), Bobby Hinder O Cat 2). Third place -- Storm deFondaumiere (Div. 4) and Madison Milford (O Cat 2).

The meet also featured an opportunity for swimmers six and under to swim in the 25 free and 25 back. The club is always excited to see its up-and-coming swimmers get a taste of being part of competition.

The Stingrays thank all the sponsors, volunteers and swimmers who made the meet a huge success.
