Defending BC champions leave March 7 for two week trip

South Delta Sun Devils are headed to the United Kingdom next week on a trip that has been two years in the making.

It’s quite the road trip for the defending B.C. boys “AAA” rugby champions.

The South Delta Sun Devils are embarking on a two-week tour of the United Kingdom from March 7-21. After a very successful trip in 2015, planning for a 2019 tour began two years later.

The Sun Devils will play four matches and also attend England taking on Italy in a Six Nations League tilt slated for Twickenham Stadium in London.

Players will be billeted with families at four different schools — starting at Uxbridge (just outside of London) and ending at Kinross (near Edinburgh). In total, the tour will cover 790 kilometres with some stops including Oxford, a coal mine in Barnsley and St. Andrew’s Golf Course.

The SDSS contingent will include 24 players and three coaches/chaperones.

The program thanks The Tsawwassen Order of Old Bastards (TOOBs) and the Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions for their help in fundraising efforts, as well as their own families and friends.
