Two-sport Tsawwassen standout James Greig is thriving on the football field with the University of Toronto Blues.

The third-year linebacker earned the school’s athlete of the week award for his performance in a 35-11 loss to undefeated and top 10 ranked Queen’s University. Greig recorded four solo tackles in the opening half then began the third quarter with a quarterback sack.

Through three games, the criminology major is tied for the team lead with 14 tackles while assisting on seven more. He also has an interception for the 1-2-0 Blues who continue their schedule against York on Saturday.

Greig got his start playing football at the community level with the South Delta Rams flag team before taking his career to Vancouver College.

He also excels in the lacrosse box, highlighted by helping the Delta Islanders win provincial championships at the Bantam and Midget A1 levels.

His teammates included his twin brother Jon who also took his athletic career to Ontario, playing field lacrosse at Western where he helped the Mustangs win the national title in 2019.

The Greig brothers wrapped up their junior “A” careers with the Islanders this past summer.
