Tunnel Town' Curling Club junior standouts Meredith Cole (right) and Keira McCoy will be looking to help Team Taylor reach the top of the podium at the U18 provincials in Parksville next week.

Team Taylor will be among the favourites when the U18 Girls Provincial Curling Championships get underway March 19 in Parksville.

The rink, that features Royal City’s Jensen Taylor (skip) and Chelsea Taylor (lead), along with Tunnel Town’s Meredith Cole (third) and Keira McCoy (second), is enjoying an outstanding season. Highlighted results include a silver medal in Victoria when they girls stepped up in age class to compete at the B.C. Junior Women’s Championships.

Team Taylor secured its spot in Parksville by capturing the “A” event Lower Mainland qualifier last month in Mission with three straight wins. The girls are coming off a 4-1 performance at the Tunnel Town’s women’s bonspiel. They have also been runners-up at the past two U18 provincials.

Their competition includes more local flavour in Team Bowles from the Delta Thistle Curling Club. It features Emily Bowles as skip, along with Ashley Mallett (third), Gabby Brissette (second) and Grace McCusker (lead). Meanwhile, Elizabeth Bowles is a member of Team Buchy that also features curlers from Kimberley and Kelowna.

The U18 Boys Provincial Championships will also be taking place in Parksville and includes Tunnel Town’s Connor Deane skipping his own rink.

Deane is coming off a 4-3 showing at the BC Mixed Doubles Championships in Hope where he teamed with Shawna Jensen
