Beach Grove Golf Club's annual Pro Am Championship produced more outstanding play as Dave Zibrik fired a six under 65 to take top honours.
Zibrik's impressive round earned him a first prize cheque of $1,100 and was good enough to hold off a quality field of 28 professionals that included runner-ups Bryn Perry and Matt Daniel, who joined Jeremy Paradis in a group at four under (66). Two shots further back were Andy Girling, Kyle German and Shingo Akizuki with 68s, while Cory RudstonBrown and Darryl Stubbs each shot even par 71s.
In the team competition, pro Matt Mackinson and club members Wayne Grayshon, Randy Volden and Grant Turner captured top honours with a 21 under 121 total. They held off Akizuki's team (20 under) that included David Craig, Larry Kenmare and Keith Tough.
Rounding out the top four, the team of Matt Daniel, Craig Van Poelgeest, Mike Smith, and Randy Debenham finished tied for third spot at 19 under, with the foursome of Craig Van Poelgeest, Mike Smith and Randy Debenham. Finishing fourth at 18 under were Segei Dronov, Peter Bexley, Jim Musselwhite and Jim Bremworth.
Steve Knoblauch, from Ram Construction and also a member of Beach Grove, joined other sponsors in making this year's event a huge success.
