Singing tunes by artists ranging from Louis Armstrong to Ed Sheeran, Canadian impressionist André-Philippe Gagnon is known as the “man of a thousand voices” and is gearing up for a concert in Richmond.

On March 30, Gagnon – who was the first Quebec comedian to perform on the Las Vegas strip for an extended time, including a long series of shows at the Venetian and Casino Paris – will hit the stage at Richmond’s River Rock Casino.

It’s not Gagnon’s first time performing in Richmond and the impressionist says he’s looking forward to returning to the Lower Mainland.

“I’m really glad to come back,” he told the Richmond News. “I love the Vancouver area.”

Gagnon’s performance covers the “History of Rock and Roll,” spanning from the 1950s including music from Bill Haley and the Comets all the way to Milky Chance in the present day.

“To work with all those vocalists that have…created the soundtracks of our lives somehow, I like that,” he said.

“The moment that I try to nail the voice, to copy the voice then…a little click happens that provokes that memory (for people).”

While Gagnon is known for his comedy and spot-on impressions, he says he’ll be sticking with singing for now.

“It’s always about singing impressions because I don’t think I’ve mastered the English accent enough to be precise with some talking impressions,” he said. “Maybe I could do just a little short of this and that, but I’d rather just stick to singing impressions.”

Tickets for the March 30 performance are still on sale and start at $49.50, before taxes.
