Mayoralty candidate Sylvia Bishop continues to promise changes at municipal hall.
Leading a slate called Team Delta, Bishop recently announced she’d create a “robust Economic Development Office.”
She noted Delta is one of the few sizeable municipalities in the province not to have such a department.
At one time the city had an economic development officer position and during subsequent civic election campaigns the need to establish an economic development function at municipal hall was raised.
Mayor Lois Jackson for years has been delivering the message to the region’s business sector that Delta is open for business, talking about the city’s various initiatives and rezoning incentives.
The election takes place Oct. 20.
