Council candidate Craig DeCraene says it makes sense to allow legal cannabis dispensaries in the city.

Delta council independent candidate Craig DeCraene says it’s better to know where your marijuana is coming from with legalization on its way.

DeCraene supports the controlled retail sale of the product in Delta.

“As opposed to getting it from somewhere where you don’t know what was on the scale before you showed up. That’s why allowing retail dispensaries to operate in Delta is a matter of public safety if you ask me. My wife works in the DTES and cross contamination happens from time to time with street dealers,” says DeCraene is a press release.

He asks why not have a place to get your legal cannabis without having to worry about getting contaminated drugs or without having to drive to Surrey, White Rock or Richmond.

“I received this message today, ‘You are definitely getting my vote, Craig. As a person who is interested in opening a cannabis dispensary in Delta, I appreciate your brave step in coming out in support of this issue. Too many Delta politicians have no problem if I reframe the question to say I want to open a liquor store. They see the tax benefits and the jobs that come with opening a legal business in Delta.'”

DeCraene says that because local politicians are not open to a safer product than alcohol being sold in their community, we cannot bring jobs or tax revenue to Delta.
