WHL roundup: Larson's overtime goal powers Rebels past Pats

RED DEER, Alta. — Jhett Larson's goal at 2:16 of overtime lifted the Red Deer Rebels to an exciting 6-5 come-from-behind win over the visiting Regina Pats in Western Hockey League action on Tuesday night.

Ben King's second goal of the game, at 6:50 of the third period, allowed the Rebels to tie the game 5-5 and set the stage for Larson's heroics.

Kai Uchacz, Craig Armstrong and Jayden Grubbe also scored for the Rebels (33-10-1-3), who led 3-2 after the first period but trailed 5-4 heading into the third.

Borya Valis scored twice for the Pats (22-21-2-1), with singles netted by Connor Bedard, Alexander Suzdalev and Sam Oremba. Tanner Howe had four assists for the Pats, while Bedard chipped in with two.

The Rebels outshot the Pats 32-22.

BLADES 2 WHEAT KINGS 1

BRANDON, Man. — Charlie Wright scored 15 seconds into overtime to lift the visiting Saskatoon Blades past the Brandon Wheat Kings 2-1.

Brandon Lisowsky, who scored a power-play goal at 12:17 of the third period to tie the game 1-1, also scored for the Blades (30-11-3-1). Trevor Wong chipped in with two assists.

Rylen Roersma scored for the Wheat Kings (19-21-6-0), who were outshot 33-21.

VICTORIA, B.C. — Evan Herman scored twice, and Landon Kosior had a goal and three assists as the visiting Prince Albert Raiders defeated the Victoria Royals 6-3.

Ryder Ritchie, Harrison Lodewyk and Aiden Oiring also scored for the Raiders (18-25-3-0), who led 2-1 after the first period and 5-1 after the second.

Jake Poole, Kalem Parker and Matthew Hodson scored for the Royals (14-29-4-1). Alex Thacker chipped in with two assists.

THUNDERBIRDS 4 BRONCOS 2

SEATTLE, Wash. — Jared Davidson had two goals and an assist and Lucas Ciona scored twice as the Seattle Thunderbirds edged the visiting Swift Current Broncos 4-2.

Brady Birnie and Mathew Ward scored for the Broncos (22-20-1-2), who trailed 2-1 after the first period and 3-1 heading into the third.

The Thunderbirds (34-8-1-1) outshot the Broncos 43-31.
