Most of us just imagine what it would be like to run around a store after closing hours and all the workers had gone home, but one North Vancouver man actually made that his m.o. for burglary.

Shane Davidson has been found guilty of a handful of property crime offences, the North Vancouver RCMP announced Wednesday. He was convicted Jan. 18, 2019, of three counts of burglary, one count of assault, and one count of theft under $5,000.

Davidson was able to pull off his after hours thievery by entering the stores during business hours, then making his way into the ceiling and waiting until everyone was gone for the night. Once he came out of hiding he “searched for cash, clothing, and other valuables, and then broke out.”

During one incident, Davidson was caught by an employee entering the cash room at about 5 in the morning. She screamed, and Davidson physically assaulted her before fleeing.

Surveillance video aided authorities in investigating the crimes and identifying Davidson.

A judge remanded Mr. Davidson until his sentencing hearing on April 29, 2019 at the Vancouver law courts. He has been in custody since May 2018.

Here’s some footage of Davidson during one of his burglaries.
