DPD impaired drivers warning

Delta police were hoping this wouldn't become a thing, but it's a thing.

Monday's impaired drivers count for the weekend of Jan.10: Immediate Roadside Prohibition total: nine.

“Yes, nine drivers who shouldn’t have been behind the wheel, added to a further six drivers taken off the road earlier in the past week,” said DPD on its Facebook page. “We have had a few followers comment that the people who choose to drink and drive don't follow us on social media. Perhaps you're right. So, let's try a different angle. As followers and members of this community, can we enlist your help to get the message out there?

“Talk about drinking and driving next time you're out with your friends, your family...at a dinner party. Talk about the lives that could be lost when someone gets behind the wheel of a vehicle after they've consumed alcohol or drugs. If you're with someone who has been consuming drugs or alcohol, ensure that they don't drive. Take their keys, and offer them a bed to sleep in or money for a taxi.

And thank you for caring, and for helping us spread the word!”
