Since launching in March of 2020, Support Local BC – a digital platform that sells gift certificates for small, local businesses across British Columbia to help them create cash flow during COVID-19 – has generated more than $400,000 in sales supporting the revival of the local economy.

In partnership with Vancity, LOCO BC, BCEDA and Northern Development Initiative Trust, and Think Local First, Support Local BC provides an online platform where customers can support their favourite local businesses by purchasing gift certificates for current or future use.

Delta joined Support Local BC in May 2020 and is now strengthening their partnership in collaboration with the City’s Community Resilience and Economic Recovery Support Team. The partnership includes co-branding with Delta’s ‘We Love Delta’ brand and a local community social media promotion ‘Come In, We’re Local’ that encourages residents to support Delta businesses this gift giving season. The welovedelta.ca website will have specific calls to action to purchase online gift certificates to our participating businesses.

“Support Local BC not only brought communities together to support their local businesses, it built a connection between economic development organizations, buy local programs and others passionate about small business success,” said Michèle Hamilton, Managing Director, Think Local First and Support Local BC. “We've achieved amazing results in a short period of time by being nimble, collaborative and building on ways to make the initiative meaningful for everyone involved.”

Businesses can join the Support Local BC platform at no cost and the sign-up process takes about two minutes. Gift certificates are available for purchase in $10, $25, $50 and $100 denominations.

Consumers can purchase gift certificates by visiting supportlocalbc.com/collections/delta,choosing the business(es) they wish to purchase from, and the gift certificate(s) will be emailed to the buyer directly. These gift certificates do not expire and are non-refundable.
