Big Kahuna Dog is bringing gourmet hotdogs with a twist to Tsawwassen.
The new eatery at Tsawwassen Commons does hotdogs a little differently, with buns toasted from the inside, and relish and mustard choices all the way from Hawaii.
Patrons can choose from a Polish sausage, Nathan’s Famous wiener or Beyond Meat veggie dog, then pick between mild, medium or hot garlic sauce, add a pineapple, mango or coconut relish and finally pick a mustard option.
A chili dog is also on the menu and Jacqui Petrunia, who owns Big Kahuna with her husband Jerry, says they plan on offering a jalapeno cheese dog as well.
“We’re going to try out a bunch of different things,” she says.
Sides include fresh cut French fries, deep fried pickles and coleslaw.
Lemonade is one of the beverage options at Big Kahuna, which also offers shave ice (a sweet treat in a variety of tropical flavours).
Petrunia says they hope to open Thursday.
“This is a labour of love. We’ve been working on it for a year.”
