It’s an end of an era in Ladner.

On Saturday, Mt. Fuji Sushi owners Michael and Tiffany posted a heartfelt message on their Facebook page announcing that they would be retiring at the end of the month.

“For almost 20 years, our family has had the pleasure of serving our wonderful community of Ladner. We are truly grateful for the support and friendships that have blossomed out of our small restaurant, and we hope you have always felt welcome here. We would like to take this chance to tell you that we made the bittersweet decision to transfer Mt. Fuji Sushi to new ownership in February. Our last day will be Jan. 31. Whether it was for a meal or a chat, we thank you for coming through our doors all these years.

"From the bottom of our hearts: Michael, Tiffany, and the rest of the Mt. Fuji Sushi family.”

Their message went viral quickly with many community members offering their thanks and well-wishes to the couple and their family.

One resident contacted the Optimist directly saying their attention to good food, at a great price as well as top-notch service and community involvement was a key to their success.

“I personally really appreciated also the fact that they gave our daughter her first job, trained her and treated her very well, and have been very encouraging of her studies and dreams,” wrote Daniele Marcotte. “They did that with a number of kids around Ladner (and their own children who worked part-time in the restaurant as well) and were thus a big positive influence in the community.”
