A Mexican Fiesta is on its way to Tsawwassen Commons just in time for summer.

In an email with the Optimist this week, Novy Cheema, associate director of real estate for Gracorp Capital Advisors Inc., confirmed that Mucho Burrito will be open by late July, early August in a building beside A&W.

“Yes the Mucho Burrito is under construction and should be ready to open sometime in July/August,” said Cheema.

Cheema also confirmed that two spaces next to Simply Pho and Two Stones Grill have been leased and will be occupied by Donair Affair and Freshii.

“Additionally, we are in advanced discussions on bringing in a breakfast restaurant,” he said. “There are a few additional deals that we are working on that are confidential and I am hoping that we can announce them in the next couple of weeks.”

Mucho Burrito, Donair Affair and Freshii are just the latest in a number of restaurants that have opened in the mall the past few months. They include: Kamome Japanese, SMK Smokery + Bar, Big Kahuna Dog, Arby’s, Simply Pho and Two Stones Grill.

Clancy’s Meat Co. and Kin’s Farm Market also both opened up to the delight of residents in the past month as well.

Deas Island Dance will also be opening up and expanding to another location at the Commons later this summer.

Anchored by Walmart, Canadian Tire, Rona and others, the 100-store mall on Tsawwassen First Nation land was expected to open in October 2016 in conjunction with the adjacent 200-store Tsawwassen Mills, but a slower than anticipated retail market stalled construction.

Once fully complete, Tsawwassen Commons will be a 550,000-square-foot open air shopping centre.
