It was Carnaval at Delta Christian School in Ladner. The entire school celebrated Carnaval, a French-Canadian custom, with classroom and school events throughout last week, culminating in a celebration on Friday, Feb. 15.
Students took part in fun and games and learning activities at various stations set up throughout the school, from hockey, making maple syrup, dancing and songs, as well as a dress-up relay and other activities.
Principal Brian Young said students from kindergarten to Grade 7 are introduced to the French language and the fun event helped them celebrate what they’ve learned.
A beloved winter tradition, Carnaval de Québec is the largest winter event in Quebec City. Every year, thousands of visitors flock to the Quebec Winter Carnival to enjoy a host of activities for all ages.
