A young girl was reportedly killed in an accident on a Delta property this week.

It happened on Wednesday, March 13 but the B.C. Corners Service is not providing details including the location and whether it was on a local farm.

Andy Watson with the B.C. Coroners Service told the Optimist, “On the record, I can tell you we are in the early stages of a fact-finding investigating in the Lower Mainland region involving the death of a young girl on Wednesday. The Coroners Service’s fact-finding investigation will look to determine who died, how, where, when and by what means. Due to the privacy of the deceased, per the Coroners Act and provincial privacy legislation, we are not releasing or confirming ID. I have no other information available at this time.”

The Delta police department said the investigation is with the coroner and that the department has no further comment.

A spokesperson for WorkSafeBC told the Optimist they "do not currently have any information about this incident but we are looking into it. We’ll keep you updated if we receive any preliminary information."
