Are you having a tough time finding baking supplies in stores lately?

Going out to the store is a different experience now during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hoarding, reduced hours and item limits are part of the new reality.

On Monday we asked on our Facebook page what types of supplies do you have/not have on hand.

Many replied they were having a tough time finding toilet paper as well as cleaning supplies including sanitizing products and paper towels.

Certain foods like eggs and chicken were mentioned as hard to find. Baking supplies were also hard to come by.

Here were some of the replies left on our Facebook post:

Leslie Varga – “Can't find hand sanitizer, Lysol wipes, or isopropyl alcohol. I bake every week and my flour is getting low. I tried three different grocery stores today and couldn't find any. Empty shelves in the baking isle.”

Luciana Filice – “I spent from 7:30 am to 10:00 am driving to Walmart, Save-On-Foods, Safeway, London Drugs, Shoppers Drug Mart in Delta, Surrey and New Westminster looking for a thermometer with no luck for my daughter that has a fever and sore throat. The majority of these stores were also sold out of cough candies and Tylenol.”

Kerry McDowall – “I'm not finding the few foods my autistic son eats. They are always sold out. Has to be exact brand and flavours. This is a nightmare for me.”

Jennifer Spanza Savady – “Sanitizer, disinfecting wipes or spray, isopropyl or rubbing alcohol. Also have had times were I needed to go to multiple stores to get paper products, children’s Tylenol, chicken, eggs, bread and milk.”

Stephanie Hill Davie – “I need Lysol disinfectant spray can. We need to he vigilant with cleaning areas for our medically complex boy, Owen. We have zero nursing support and we have been locked down since the 10th. I've looked everywhere online.”

Brett Tyre – “I'm not in need of it, but wanted to get a spare pack of toilet paper. I haven't seen any on shelves in Ladner or Ironwood since Friday night.”

Anne Campagna – “Can't find toilet paper, paper towels, flour, sugar, eggs, yeast, bleach. I found meat and dishsoap, but had to go to multiple stores, and it's partly luck when you find it.”

Lindsay Ross McCallum – “Hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes for our family and my mother and mother in law. We have none of the above”

Angie Wang – “Toilet paper, Lysol wipes, hand sanitizer, eggs. Disinfect alcohol.”

Marcie Lynn – “Dish soap, sanitizer of any kind including household cleaner, paper towel, canned chicken noodle soup.”

Melissa Kluey – “Paper goods are very difficult to find.”
