Dayhu Group proposes new distribution centre at airport

At the opening of the new 80th Street overpass Thursday, Delta Mayor Lois Jackson announced a new proposed development for Boundary Bay Airport.

Family-owned real estate investment company Dayhu Group has proposed building a 900,000 square foot commercial distribution centre on industrial land at the airport.

"The Dayhu development is expected to create approximately 1,000 ongoing jobs in Delta," Jackson said.

"We hope that this development and the unimpeded access to the airport provided by the new 80th Street overpass will foster even more business development on the airport's industrial land."

The Corporation and Dayhu have signed a memorandum of agreement to move forward with the development of the commercial distribution centre.

Construction of the new centre is expected to commence soon in anticipation of opening in 2014.

The distribution centre will be used to store goods for circulation across the province.
