A Delta greenhouse operation that’s made the switch to cannabis is about to officially launch its first certified organic brand.

Rubicon Organics Inc. yesterday announced its “Simply Bare” products will hit the recreational market for sale in early 2020.

"We have cultivated some of the most highly coveted strains in the market using our proprietary organic cultivation methodologies to offer exceptionally high-quality and pure products that consumers have been waiting for,” said Jesse McConnell, CEO of Rubicon Organics, in a news release.

The brand promises to deliver consumers an all-natural, terpene-rich experience, he said.

The brand will have two product offerings: BC Organic Blue Dream, boasting a high THC potency of 22 per cent, and BC Organic Creek Congo, which has a THC content of 18.5 per cent.

Tim Roberts, president of Rubicon Organics, said Bare is “based on feedback from thousands of consumers and budtenders to ensure we spoke to a real need in the market.”

Rubicon runs a 125,000-square-foot facility on 104th Street in East Ladner.

This fall it announced it successfully completed its first commercial-scale harvest of certified organic pot.

In an interview this summer, McConnell told the Optimist they don’t consider themselves a boutique Delta operation, but rather a bigger craft cannabis grower focusing on the higher end of the market.

“We’re trying to do things a little different here. We’re trying to be kind of small batch excellence, that kind of craft community feel. Our approach is to say there’s a commodity end to the spectrum here, but there’s also a really premium end. For people who really love cannabis, that’s the type of product we’re growing. We spend extra time with it. We grow in certified organic soil and manicure the plants in ways a commodity grower wouldn’t really do,” he said.
