Delta police need help to solve a mystery

Police ask friends, acquaintances of deceased pedestrian to come forward

Delta police are asking the public to come forward with more information to help piece together the last days of the man killed in the pedestrian collision on River Road in October.

Gary Bowman, age 48, had worked in the Delta area prior to his death, but police don’t have information regarding the circumstances that led up to him walking on River Road just before 11:30 p.m. Oct. 26.

Bowman was killed in a collision with a bus, and appears to have been attempting to cross River Road. The driver of the bus remained on the scene following the collision.

“Gary’s family had lost touch with him prior to the crash, and was very saddened to hear of his sudden death,” said DPD public affairs coordinator Cris Leykauf. “His family and police are looking for any further information regarding what happened that night and in the days previous. “We are also asking Gary’s friends and acquaintances to contact Delta police, so we can get further information on where he was living, his activities, etc.”

Police are also looking for anyone who may have witnessed anything minutes prior to the collision to contact them.

Anyone with further information about Gary Bowman, and the events leading up to the crash, is asked to call DPD at 604-946-4411.
