Deltassist is continuing to ensure the well-being of members of the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s still providing essential services, although there have been modifications to some programs.
Here is the latest update from Delta’s social services agency:
During these exceedingly challenging times, Deltassist has committed to continue to support the community of Delta through its counselling services. In order to do this while maintaining the safety, health and well-being of its staff, the agency has made the decision to temporarily suspend in-person services but is happy to provide virtual (phone and online) counselling to its clients.
For more information, call 604-594-3455 ext. 136.
Seniors Phone Shopping Programs:
Deltassist’s weekly phone shopping program for seniors continues with the help of volunteers and staff. Although the program is not able to take on any new clients at this time, the City of Delta is organizing volunteers to help seniors that cannot get out to purchase groceries. If you are a senior living in Delta and cannot get out, let Deltassist know and it will forward your information to the City of Delta for help.
With so many people off work and waiting for benefits to start, Deltassist is offering help with emergency food. If you need help stop by Deltassist’s North Delta office weekdays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for a bag of non-perishable food.
Connecting with Seniors:
Starting Monday, March 30, Deltassist will be contacting all seniors on its active client lists on a twice weekly basis to ensure they are safe and staying connected to the community. Although many services for seniors have been suspended through this health crisis, Deltassist is committed to keeping in contact on a regular basis and help where it can.
