It was another busy week for Delta police conducting impaired driving enforcement.

According to the latest impaired driving stats released by DPD, 10 suspected impaired drivers were taken off Delta roads last week.

DPD presented a few highlights (or lowlights as they described them) on the department’s Facebook page recently.

In one incident, an officer came up to a car and smelled an overpowering odour of liquor.

The officer asked the driver for their licence and insurance papers. The driver reached over to the glove box, but fell forward, while seated. Eventually the driver managed to provide a breath sample, which showed he was over the legal limit.

In another incident, an officer noticed a vehicle crossing over the line between lanes repeatedly. The vehicles’ speed varied too. The officer stopped the car. The database showed the principal driver is currently prohibited from driving, due to being caught driving impaired in August, but she's actually in the passenger seat. As it turns out, her friend, who is driving, is impaired, so the car is impounded for another 30 days.
