Excessive speed and numerous vehicle impoundments due to suspected drinking and driving all added up for a busy weekend for Delta police.

On Sunday alone, the DPD impounded four vehicles for excessive speed on the South Fraser Perimeter Road.

“Excessive speed is 40 km/hr-plus over the posted speed limit. If you're speeding excessively, your violation ticket will be between $368 to $483 and three points, your car will be impounded, you are required to pay the towing fee, and find a way home. Is it worth it? We don't think so,” wrote DPD on their Facebook page.

Between Friday afternoon and Sunday evening officers pulled over five impaired drivers. Three drivers were given a 90-day immediate driving prohibition.

“We can't say this enough: please, if you're going to drink, do not get behind the wheel of your car. Find another way home,” added DPD on Facebook.
