Motorists are advised to expect extra traffic volume and delays along Highway 17 as police and a highway maintenance crew deal with an earlier motor vehicle incident.
Early Thursday morning, police were called to the scene at Highway 17 southbound at Highway 99 forcing a closure of the route due to an oil spill.
According to the Delta Police Traffic Unit, Highway 17 has one southbound lane open as of 9 a.m.
“All entry points to Highway 17 open except from Highway 99 southbound off-ramp. That will be closed for several hours,” said the Traffic Unit on its Twitter feed.
