Extreme weather shelter open tonight

Delta’s extreme weather shelter will open tonight after an extreme weather alert was issued Monday afternoon. The shelter, which will open for the third time this season, is being opened as the weather calls for temperatures at or below 0 degrees.

Delta’s extreme weather shelter will open tonight after an extreme weather alert was issued Monday afternoon.

The shelter, which will open for the third time this season, is being opened as the weather calls for temperatures at or below 0 degrees.

Now in its third season at Ladner United Church, the shelter can accommodate up to nine people and will be open from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. when the temperature drops below zero or in severe windy and rainy weather conditions.

The shelter offers a warm place to sleep, hot food and drink a hot shower and a chance to dry out from the cold, wet weather.

The shelter is operated in cooperation with volunteers from the United Church, the City of Delta and Options Community Services.
