Extreme Weather Shelter to re-open

Delta’s Extreme Weather Shelter has been re-activated and will open again tonight (Wednesday).

The shelter opens from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. at Ladner United Church (4960 48 Ave.) and with colder temperatures in the forecast, will be open until at least Saturday morning.

Now in its third season at Ladner United Church, the shelter can accommodate up to nine people and opens when the temperature drops below zero or in severe windy and rainy weather conditions.

The shelter offers a warm place to sleep, hot food and drink a hot shower and a chance to dry out from the cold, wet weather.

The shelter is operated in cooperation with volunteers from the United Church, the City of Delta and Options Community Services.
