A highly-decorated former Delta Heat fastpitch player, national champion and university student from North Delta is putting her creative skills to good use while she waits out the COVID-19 pandemic here at home.

Aymee Godmaire should be at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla., where she is studying graphic design and playing collegiate softball, but that is not in the cards right now.

In the off-season when she returns to Delta, she works at Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl & Grill as a waitress, but was unable to return to that job when was sent home early from university.

“I knew I wasn’t wanting to look for another job during this time, so I thought about what I could do creatively for people from home, and that’s when I came up with the idea of photo retouching,” she told the Optimist. “This is a skill I learned during my first semester in university, and something I also really enjoyed doing with my spare time.

“I’m doing it because I know lots of people have old photos of family members that have been damaged, but refrain from getting them fixed because it can be expensive at times, and especially right now no one has a lot of extra money to be spending.”
She originally posted about her photo retouching in the North Delta Community Corner Facebook group, not even knowing if anyone would comment, but has been overwhelmed by the positive response.

“I have already started editing pictures. It’s so cool to see the history from people who live in my community,” she said. “As it can be a lengthy and tedious process, I decided it was best to charge a small fee for the work I’m doing. Basically my service costs $10 to $20.”

She said the money will be going to help her save money for when she can return to university.
