The final Ladner Sunday Market for 2020 is this Sunday, Sept. 13.

The Ladner Village Market's 2020 season comes to an end this Sunday.

With new COVID-19 pandemic health and safety protocols in place, this year’s Market operated during July, August and September as a food only market.

It meant a reduction in the number of vendors as well as the general public, no entertainment and no food consumed within the market footprint, but according to organizers, the season has still been a success.

“The Ladner Village Market is grateful for the support of our community during this highly unusual time,” said Jill McKnight, one of the market organizers. “Our community is showing their support of local farmers and food producers as demonstrated by the shopping bags filled with deliciousness leaving the market area.”

McKnight said typically the four previous markets this summer welcomed approximately 2,400 guests per day.

Wait line-ups to get into the market area have been decreasing after 11 a.m. with guests waiting for only five minutes.

For Sunday’s final market day, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., capacity restrictions remain in effect with the market entrance (one only) at Delta St. and 48th Ave. with the only exit at 47A Ave.

This year eight food vendors, which are stationed near the market exit, made their debut this season in Ladner and the market also welcomed the return of two more local farmers to the market.

If you are planning to come out to support the market this Sunday, organizers suggest you bring a wagon or cart to assist with getting your purchases back home or to your car as this will be your last opportunity to stock up for 2020.

McKnight said vendors and customers have expressed appreciation for all the steps taken to ensure a safe environment for all attending this year.

“Our customers embraced the ‘shop, do not stop’ theme of farmers’ markets this year,” added Tracey McKnight. “On behalf of the Ladner Village Market vendors, volunteers and organizing team, thank you to the community of Delta for your continued support and your adjustment to the new guidelines for 2020.”
