Planned Investment Could Bring Up To 700 New Jobs and Careers along with Gaming, Dining, and Entertainment to the Community
gateway

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment is looking to build a beautiful entertainment facility in the City of Delta. The company’s proposed project will feature a casino, signature food and beverage outlets, live entertainment offerings, and a premium hotel and convention centre. Gateway plans to enter into a land lease agreement with the current ownership of the Town & Country site.

The project will see a planned investment of $70 Million to the Delta economy and generate up to 700 new, well-paying jobs that allow for career growth and personal and professional development. Gateway has indicated that the jobs and careers will be a great opportunity for those living in, and around, Delta; including their current employees that commute to other properties to work – they will have the opportunity to apply for positions at the new facility, or transfer to it.

Subject to necessary approvals, the facility will offer an exciting gaming floor and a premium hotel that will feature flexible meeting space; but, what Gateway is most excited to offer the Delta community, is its signature food and beverage brands, such as:

ATLAS Steak + Fish, a modern twist on the North American steakhouse that offers a warm and casually elegant ambiance, and a stylish approach to hospitality and remarkable cuisine.

MATCH Eatery & Public House, a contemporary themed pub that offers a fun sporting and entertainment experience with the atmosphere and comfort of a neighbourhood pub.

The Buffet that offers excellent food at value pricing. Featuring themed nights and an array of international specialties, The Buffet is said to serve up something for every age and appetite.

A member of the Metro Vancouver business community for 25 years, Gateway is one of the largest and most diversified gaming companies in Canada. Operating 25 properties in British Columbia, Edmonton, and Ontario, Gateway has over 6,200 employees across its properties. They have said that they are excited to offer a premium entertainment experience to customers from Delta and South of the Fraser and eagerly await the necessary approvals.

With an emphasis on local hiring in departments such as IT, finance, gaming, and hospitality, the up to 700 new jobs  and careers that will be created, will produce an estimated annual payroll of $25 Million. And will offer employees the opportunity to grow and advance in the company and experience a wide variety of employment areas, if they are interested in building a long-term career path. The municipalities that host gaming facilities also see the benefits of an annual Host Local Government payment – 10 percent of the facilities net revenues – BCLC estimates HLG payments will be at the top end of its initial $1.5 Million and $3 Million projection.

When asked about what will happen to the existing location, the Town & Country ownership indicated that they have had a redevelopment vision for this property for a long time and think that the amenities that Gateway has proposed fit perfectly.  They go on to say, Gateway will not assume the operation of any of the existing buildings or amenities at the location. It is expected that the arrangement between Gateway and Town & Country ownership will be strictly a land lease agreement.

Gateway has already hosted seven open houses and participated in the three public meetings recently hosted by The City of Delta. Gateway representatives remain committed to engaging with the residents of Delta to ensure they have all the information they need to make an informed decision about the proposed entertainment and gaming facility coming to their community.
