City planning staff are still going over comments received from the community on a proposed 40-unit condo project in Tsawwassen.
A developer wants to consolidate several single-family parcels on Hunter Road, just north of 12th Avenue, to construct a four-storey building with two levels of underground parking.
A recent letter writer to council conveyed several concerns, saying he and other Hunter Road property owners are not against improving the appearance of the street, but are in favour of a limited number of townhouses.
“Such a concept would add architecturally attractive, non-rental housing consistent with the OCP plan, complement existing Hunter Road residences without further compromising a practical, comfortable neighbourhood, and still reflect the unique characteristic and varying lifestyles of the community,” the resident wrote.
A staff response for council notes the comments and concerns will be included with feedback received from the community consultation process, which featured a public information meeting in June.
“The next phase of the application process for this project involves reviewing all the comments received from the community, Delta departments and external agencies and assessing if further revisions and design development are needed. If so, staff will discuss such changes and refinements to the design with the applicant prior to moving forward with a first and second reading report to council,” the staff memo notes.
The application is a scaled-down version of a five-storey, 52-unit condo building proposal submitted a year earlier.
