Judge urgently needed for youth poetry contest

Local author and creator of the International Junior Authors Contests, Laura Michelle Thomas, is putting out an urgent call for an additional judge for her second annual poetry contest.

Local author and creator of the International Junior Authors Contests, Laura Michelle Thomas, is putting out an urgent call for an additional judge for her second annual poetry contest. Reading and scoring of approximately 120 poems needs to be completed by Jan. 28 so Thomas can announce the finalists on Jan. 30.

Thomas has completed the first round of judging of this year's 389 entries from young writers in 34 countries. She said that with the help of returning judges Shirley Silva and Barbara Baydala, along with newcomer Ken Priebe, she has the other age categories

covered for the second round of judging. But she needs a second set of eyes to help her judge the biggest category - the 15 to 17 year olds.

Any poetry aficionados who are interested in helping are asked to contact Thomas by phone or text at 604-307-4971 or by email at laura@laurathomascommunications. com.
