Motorcyclist injures RCMP officer at North Van traffic stop

On Saturday afternoon an RCMP officer was injured in a hit and run incident at a road check on Highway 1, just west of Westview, in North Vancouver.

At approximately 2:50 p.m., a black sport motorcycle was flagged down by traffic enforcement. After initially stopping, the police report, the motorcyclist sped past the officer, knocking him to the ground, and continuing west on Highway 1.

The officer was taken to Lions Gate Hospital with minor injuries.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact North Vancouver Traffic Services at 604-985-1311.
