The following are some of the calls Delta police responded to in the previous week:
June 15, 8:34 p.m., 7200-block of Kittson Parkway: Police observed a vehicle fail to maintain a steady position in lane it was driving, and conducted a traffic stop. Odour detected on breath of driver. Driver provided seven breath samples on two different alcohol screening devices, however was unable to provide a sufficient sample. The inability to provide a proper sample results in a “FAIL” and the driver was served a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition.
June 15, 12:17 a.m., 10400-block of River Road: Police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle. The driver had a distinct odour of liquor. The driver was given the alcohol screening device to which he blew a “FAIL.” The driver received a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his car was impounded.
June 16, 1:08 p.m., 10000-block of River Road: Complainant reported that his motorcycle helmet (value: $500) was stolen while parked outside his place of work. Complainant parked his motorcycle at 6 a.m., and realized the helmet was missing at 12 p.m.
June 16, 12:22 p.m., 11800-block of 88th Avenue: Theft of mail was reported to police. The mailboxes in the area were found open and empty. No witnesses.
June 16, 9:05 p.m., Alex Fraser Bridge: Complaint reported a dump truck with no visible licence plate driving southbound not maintaining its lane properly. Truck last seen taking Highway 17. Area patrols negative.
June 17, 8:12 a.m., 88th Avenue and 116th Street: Complainant reported that her elderly mother was out for walk when she was approached by an unknown female who exited a vehicle. The unknown female gave the elderly woman a hug and in the process managed to remove her necklace.
June 17, 1:39 a.m., Highway 17 and Highway 91: Vehicle travelling in front of a Delta police officer was observed tailgating the vehicle in front. Vehicle in front changed lanes, and the vehicle in front of the officer sped up at a high rate of speed. Front radar locked the speed at 160 km/h. Driver served excessive speed violation ticket and car was impounded.
June 17, 10:37 p.m., 11000-block of 78B Avenue: Complainant reported a phone scam from a caller identifying himself as a police officer. The subject advised the complainant that he was being charged by another policing jurisdiction for transporting drugs. The complainant was directed to provide his personal information, including his social insurance number. He later realized it was a scam and contacted police. No money lost at this time.
June 18, 8:31 a.m., 9200-block of 116A Street: A theft from vehicle occurred in the area. Unknown suspect(s) entered the driveway and rummaged through the vehicle. Nothing appeared to have been stolen and no damage to the vehicle.
