Local youth performed in front of an audience and judges at the live finals of the fifth edition of Delta Idol at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre last Friday.

Trista-Monet Lang, 15, was the winner of the senior category while Cooper Anderson, 14, took top spot in the junior category. Lang sang Cry Me a River while Anderson performed an original song, Alone.

“The level of talent that came out was fantastic. Everybody performed really well,” said arts and culture programmer Jacqueline Hanson.

Faith Carswell finished in second place and Laura Marenych was third in the senior category. Junior runner-ups were Seiko Miyazato (second) and Nicholas Kluftinger (third).

The other finalists were:  Heather Thwaites, Finn Hipwell, Emily Sinclair, Allysha Redmond and Angelica Largo.

Hanson noted a great crowd turned out despite the snow.

Lang and Anderson won song recording opportunities from sponsors Studio Cloud 30 and Skool Starz.
