Police close 56th Street after man hit by dump truck

56th Street in Tsawwassen has been closed from 14th to 16th Avenue after a man was struck by a tandem dump truck Tuesday afternoon, according to Delta police.

“The pedestrian has been taken to hospital with what appear to be serious injuries,” says police spokesperson Cris Leykauf. “The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.”

The dump truck driver remained at the scene, police said.

It appears the truck was headed northbound on 56th Street.
