The team from South Delta Secondary is this year's B.C. Youth Poetry Slam champions after capturing the title at Hullabaloo 2012 last weekend.

After six days of performances and close to 700 poetry fans attending the festival, South Delta Secondary rose to the challenge last Saturday at The Arts Club Theatre's Granville Island Main Stage. The Tsawwassen school beat out Victoria's Reynolds Secondary, New West Secondary and Glenlyon Norfolk Secondary, also from Victoria, for the title.

The South Delta team, coached by Trevor Spilchen, was made up of Zoe Wessler, Parker Woods, Sam Merritt and Floyd VB.

Floyd VB also took home the first-ever individual title during a competition last Friday at the Rio Theatre.

South Delta wins provincial bragging rights, free entry into next year's festival and the honour of hosting the Billy Sharkspeare Championship Trophy in the school's trophy case until next year.
